Biography

Seiji Norimatsu received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from Osaka University, Japan, in 1985 and 1987, respectively. In 1997 he received Ph.D. degree in engineering from Osaka University, Japan.
In 1987 he joined NTT Laboratories, Kanagawa, Japan and conducted research on optical coherent communication systems, especially on optical homodyne transmission systems. In 1990 he succeeded in high speed optical PSK homodyne transmission for the first time. Since then he has clarified how to design PSK homodyne receivers in the series of papers.
Since 1998 he has been an associate professor at the Department of Communications and Computer Engineering, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University. His current research interest is in the area of optical communication systems.
Dr. Norimatsu is a member of
the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE),
